The Screaming Squirrel / Cannondale / Sunstance Projects

Orangeville, ON

Congrats to everyone who raced on Sunday at the second of the Substance Projects gravel race: The Screaming Squirrel 30km and 70km.

The lack of absolute route distance was more than compensated with hills and some pretty treacherous off road technical sections. Special shout out to Barry Cox who didn’t race but played the sweeper role and finished the day with nearly 5hrs on the bike.

Women's MTB Relay

Hardwood Hills, ON

On June 7, 2025, the LapDogs attended the Women's 4Hour MTB Relay on June 7, 2025 at Hardwood Hills, just north of Barrie ON. The race had an amazing, supportive, and inclusive vibe and included racers as young as 9 years old and as experienced as 72!

LDCC fielded three teams of two riders each and achieved the following results:

  • 3rd place of 14 - Pedal Pups, Erica Gasparotto and Alison Lee (2 person under 35yrs)

  • 4th place of 15 - Dirt Dogs - Maureen Wolfson and Judy Overton (2 person 50+). Huge congrats to Judy for racing on a borrowed bike and only her 4th time ever mountain biking!

  • 6th place of 15 - Two Dogs, More Laps!! - Andrea Bowker and Careesa Gee (2 person 50+)

It was a super fun day of racing and encouraging each other.

Big thanks to Andy McKean for providing support and encouragement to the riders.

100 Acre Gravel Race

Peterborough, ON

The group behind the 100 Acre went old school with their course design: no creek crossings or mud chutes, just dusty country gravel roads and rail trails for as far as you could see. Racing was hard and fast, with plenty of quick riders in the field.

Congrats to everyone with a special shout out to club newbie Neal for tearing up the course and coming in 13th in his category, and Cassidy who after +3hrs missed her podium by 1 second.

Our LDCC Results:

60KM

  • Chris Robinson, 12th

  • Frederic Rousseau, 23rd

100KM

  • Neal Hall, 13th

  • Cassidy Smyth Robinson, 4th

  • Hannes Breschneider, 50th

  • Barry Cox, 37th

Scrappy Badger / Cannondale / Substance Projects, Gravel Race

Baltimore ON

Congratulations to Karen and David for their awesome 2nd Place performances.

Rain threatened all morning but in the end it remained clear and ideal conditions for this year’s Scrappy Badger.

Pups raced either the 40 or the 80km, taking in gravel roads familiar to anyone to ride the GoG a few weeks earlier. We had multiple podiums, and for a few it was their first gravel race. Personally (Mark M, LDCC Road Director) I tried to make it a triathlon adding a swim in the mud and running to the medical tent.

Congrats to all the pups racing and a special shout out to new member Karen C continuing her podium trend with a 2nd, Maureen W blazing the 80k with a 3rd, and Robin H who narrowly missing the Female Open podium in 4th. For the men, congrats to Dave L who placed 2nd in the 40k while nursing a bum leg.

Paris to Ancaster (P2A), Spring Classic

Ancaster Ontario

Congratulations to Cassidy for her outstanding 2nd Place Finish in the 10-34 Female Category… seen her with her proud father, Chris.

“Maybe if we all think real hard, we can stop this rain, no rain no rain no rain..”

However the weather gods were appeased, we had the driest, sunniest and one of the warmest P2A events in recent memory.

Congrats to all riders on the season opener gravel race, but a special shout out to Sebastian for finishing 7th in M under 12, Cassidy for finishing 2nd Female 19-34, and Karen for finishing just off the podium with a 4th in the UCI F55-59 category.
