LDCC Tour de Hart 2026
On September 7th, (Labour Day Monday) we will once again be riding together to honour the memory and life of our fallen friend, teammate and club member, Steve Hart, with the return of our Annual Tour de Hart.
So... who was Steve? (for those who are new to the LDCC)
Steve was the epitome of what a cyclist is… and a shining example of the best our sport has to offer.
He was driven to constantly get better and get faster.
Many of the veterans of the club are very lucky to have known Steve from those early days when he first joined the LapDogs Cycling Club. Back then he would get completely shattered on rides and in races. But slowly and steadily, he improved… and no matter what happened, or the result, he was always smiling and always in a good mood. Cycling does that to people. It's hard to be in a bad mood when riding a bike (most of the time)
Steve rapidly gained a very positive reputation within the club and our community. He was known as a big man… with a big heart… and a big motor. He loved to push hard, and the faster he got… the harder he pushed. Many of us have ended up at the receiving end of a well-planned attack or sprint by Steve.
He made us all better, faster and stronger.
But Steve never forgot where he came from, and because of this he became a champion of those less able or experienced. His enthusiasm and support for all riders no matter their ability or skill level is something that Steve excelled in. Steve loved to ride and race and he wanted others to experience this with him.
Our Gentle Giant is no longer with us… but he will never forget him. His spirit, passion, enthusiasm and integrity will live on in all our Hearts.

For this year's edition of the Tour de Hart, we've created something new with 3 (yeah, three!) different ride options for you. Two Road and one for the MTB folks. Each of these rides will test you in different ways, and all three will give us an opportunity to meet up at the Milton Velodrome for a catered lunch hosted by Krys Hines, proprietor of Café Domestiique in Dundas.
This event and lunch is FREE to all 2026 LDCC Club Members.
Not a member? We are offering a 50% Discount on a LDCC Membership for the balance of 2026. Simply use the coupon code: RideWithHart2026
The CLASSIC Route ~ This one starts in High Park (Grenadier Café parking lot) and takes you on a 170km journey, with a planned lunch stop at the Velodrome at about the 100km mark. We keep things very civilized (for all levels of rider, Fun, Social, Intermediate & Advanced) and work to keep the group together until we get to the Velodrome. We ask that the stronger riders spend time at the front and also use their expertise and experience to make this an inclusive ride for all.

For those who wish to cut it shorter, you can end the ride at lunch. It's then a quick spin south to the Appleby GO Station (south of the Velodrome).
If this sounds like the one you're interested in, please indicate your participation on the LDCC Cycle Club APP. (please don't delay so we can get a handle on participation numbers for lunch catering).
The WEST Route ~ NEW for 2026. Presented by LDCC West, this one begins and ends at the Velodrome and will take you on a 140km road ride across the escarpment along quiet country roads. This route has been designed to challenge you and is targeted as an "Advanced Level" ride. If demand warrants, we'll also offer an "Intermediate Level" option.

The DIRT Route ~ Due to popular demand, the "Dirt” Tour de Hart is back for a 2nd year.
This will be a fun morning spent on the MTB trails at Kelso Conservation area before meeting up with the roadies at the Velodrome for lunch.
For this year's edition we will be starting at Kelso Conservation area (summit entrance) and this will require pre-purchase of a trail pass to enter the parking/start area.
