Annual Truth and Reconciliation Ride, September 30th, 2026
We welcome all riders to join us for our annual LapDogs ride in recognition of Truth and Reconciliation. This is an Ontario Cycling Try a Club ride so we encourage non-members to attend (see below). The ride starts from Dundas and follows the rail trail to Brantford. Our final destination is the Woodland Cultural Centre (former Mohawk residential school). We will stay there for roughly 2 hrs depending on the events and then ride back to Dundas.
This will be a Fun paced ride (all are welcome although you must have ridden at least a 50km ride this season to attend). The expected distance is roughly 75km. Recommended bike is gravel/cyclocross.
The day and ride honours the children who never returned home and survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process.
